Sgt Ernie Lown, a Navigator with 149 Sqn was killed when his Wellington bomber was shot down as it came in to land at RAF Mildenhall in 1941. She even discovered the identity of the Luftwaffe JU88 pilot responsible for his death – and this brought about a long sought-after release after 50 years of uncertainty. Her book tells the story of her detective work and contains many interesting snippets of information, photographs, documents, letters and stories from 149 Squadron veterans.
