Darryl Ashton is Blackpool's own stand-up comedy poet. His poems have won several major competitions and he is a well-known contributor at various poetry groups on the Fylde coast, Cleveleys and Lytham, all in the sunny and friendly county of Lancashire.
He does a lot of work for charity and once raised an incredible £50,000 for the Haiti earthquake disaster appeal just by reading his own poems. As a result, Darryl was invited to Buckingham Palace and met the HM Queen, who congratulated him on his poetry and fundraising efforts.
Darryl also won first prize in a worldwide Elvis Presley poetry competition and was invited to Graceland, where he performed his prize-winning poem.
Darryl’s poetic talent is once again on proud display in this, his fourth book which contains more of his brilliant poems. Once you start reading, you’ll have difficulty putting it down!
In this enjoyable collection he draws inspiration from the modern world and its joys and frustrations. There are humorous poems on subjects as diverse as Christmastime, Valentine’s Day, TV advertisements and football, along with more reflective poems in which Darryl muses upon love and relationships, accompanied by a few of his favourite jokes plus a tribute to some of his many fans around the world.
Once again, there really is something for everyone!
